The effect of speech melody on voice quality
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper explores whether a speaker's voice quality, de®ned as the perceived timbre of someone's speech, changes as a function of variation in speech melody. Analyses are based on several productions of the vowel `a', provided with dierent intonation patterns. It appears that in general fundamental frequency covaries with the `strength relationship' between the ®rst two harmonics (H1±H2). That relationship determines the voice quality to some extent, and is often claimed to re ̄ect open quotient. However, correlating the H1±H2 measure to parameters of the LF-model reveals that both the open quotient and the skewness of the glottal pulse have an impact on the lower part of the harmonic spectrum. Effect of Functional Endoscopic Sinus Surgery on the Voice Quality among Patients with Rhinosinus Polyposis
Introduction: Rhinosinus polyposis is associated with voice quality reduction. There has been little evidence about the efficacy of rhinosinus polyps surgery on patients' voice quality so far. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the nasality and acoustic voice changes after rhinosinus polyposis surgery. Materials and Methods: The population in this study compo...
متن کاملLaryngeal voice quality changes in expression of prominence in continuous speech
In this study three different prominence and speech melody related effects on voice quality were studied using an inverse filtering based method. The hypothesis that prominence as a function of sentence and word stress is signaled with more pressed voice quality was tested. The results indicated discrepancies in the parameterization results, and the original hypothesis could not be confirmed. I...
متن کاملInvestigating the formal effect of rear wall structure on acoustic parameters of speech halls (Research Article)
Referring to the rear wall in a hall is the furthest element rather than the voice source, therefor the reflections of this structural member play important role in music and speech intelligibly, especially for one-third behind audiences. Hence the form of these structures can be very effective in the acoustical quality of speech halls and auditoria. In this study, four formic structures are ex...
